River Cottage Bold Oak

River Cottage Bold Oak is an oak matured cider combining apples grown in the orchards at River Cottage HQ and Newton Court Cidery, including classic varieties like Dabinette and Broxwood Foxwhelp. Together we’ve created a stronger, lightly sparkling cider, matured in oak casks for a well-rounded and richly bittersweet character.

The aroma of this cider is apple pie with a hint of marmalade, wood chips and cut grass.  The first sip delivers a rich and fruity taste; a smooth oaky backbone; a touch of toffee apple with a pleasing tannic finish.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is a multi-award-winning writer and broadcaster known for his uncompromising commitment to seasonal, ethically produced food and his concern for the environment.  His River Cottage series of cook books and TV series were inspired by his Dorset smallholding adventures.  In perfecting the recipe for this cider, the Newton Court Cider Team ventured to River Cottage HQ.  Hugh and team visited Newton Court Farm, spending time in the orchards and learning  how cider is made.

River Cottage Bold Oak matches perfectly with roast lamb and rosemary, spinach and feta filo parcels, fruit cake, strong cheddar and blue cheese.
